Wan-Chun Huang

I am a Ph.D. Candidate at NYU. I study China’s ​television and its relationship with the government, ​other media, producers, and audiences to create ​China’s televisual media ecology.

Research

Television Education

examines television’s role in classrooms and ​how it affects teaching/learning efficacy.

Television Censorship

investigates the interplay between censors, media, ​and Chinese audiences in China’s television.

Teaching

East Asian Media: On Television (Summer 2021)

explores television’s content and format, ​circulation and distribution, viewership ​and censorship to rethink what television ​is within and beyond East Asia.

I came from Taiwan to NYC for my doctoral studies. ​My hobby is exploring different television genres, ​most recently true crime documentaries. In my free ​time, I enjoy outdoor activities close to nature and ​boulder casually. I also explore local restaurants and ​consider myself a professional bubble tea taster.
